WIU Alum, OSU Associate Director to Deliver Academics & NCAA Talks Dec. 5

MACOMB, IL – The associate director of student athlete support services from the Ohio State University will deliver two lectures about academics and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) next week at Western Illinois University. Vicki Melnick, who earned her master's degree in sport management from Western in 1997 and has served in her associate director position at OSU since July 2010, will be on the WIU-Macomb campus Monday, Dec. 5 to deliver the following lectures:
- 12:30-1:30 p.m. — "Being Investigated by the NCAA: An Inside Perspective," Brophy Hall 215
- 2-3:15 p.m. — "NCAA Academic Reform and the Changing Face of Student Academic Support," Brophy Hall 224
Prior to being promoted to associate director of student athlete support services, Melnick was the assistant director of student athlete support services (July 2007-June 2010) at OSU. She also previously served as an athletic academic counselor at OSU and as an athletic academic adviser at the University of Northern Iowa. Melnick earned her bachelor's degree at Michigan State University.
Melnick's lecture is sponsored by the Visiting Lecture Committee and the sport management program in Western Illinois University's Department of Kinesiology.
