WIU's International Bazaar is March 1, part of International Week

MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University's Casa Latina Cultural Center will host International Week Monday, Feb. 24 – Saturday, March 1.
This year, the International Bazaar is completely revamped, with an entire week full of events, fun and culture. The week begins with the Global Fashion Show at 7 p.m. in the Multicultural Center on Monday, Feb. 24. The show will consist of various fashions from the countries represented at the Bazaar.
The International Photo Exhibit will open at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25 in the Multicultural Center Gallery. Open submissions are welcome and selections will be made by the International Week Committee.
Spoken word artist, Jinahie, will perform for International Diaries on Wednesday, Feb. 26 in the Multicultural Center. Jinahie is a prolific artist who has competed in HBO’s Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam and was the 2012 champion of Washington DC’s first Art of War Slam. She has also performed in the Pulitzer Prize winning play “Ruined” and was named one of the four poets to hold a spot on the nationally touring Speak Green Team.
Thursday, Feb. 27, all students are invited to attend Soup Stories for the Cultural Soul in the Multicultural Center at noon. Students will share their stories from their lives and experiences both at home and abroad. There will be free soup and a special giveaway for those in attendance while supplies last.
The International Bazaar will be Saturday, March 1 from noon-7 p.m. in the University Union Grand Ballroom. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 3-10 and free for children under age 3.
The Bazaar will feature Chinese acrobats and the Grupe Axe Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art that combines music and dance. Students and the public are invited.
