MACOMB, IL – The 14 statues that make up the Western Illinois University Rocky on Parade public art project will be featured in two upcoming television shows, one on University Television and one on the PBS program "Illinois Stories."
"Rocky on Parade – A Behind the Scenes Look," was created and produced by University Television Associate Director for Television Michael Thompson. He worked with the committee guiding Rocky on Parade to follow the project from start to finish.

In addition, Mark McDonald, the host and producer of "Illinois Stories," was in Macomb recently to interview Art Professor Bill Howard and Assistant Professor or Art Duke Oursler about Rocky on Parade.
The project, inspired by Chicago's Cows on Parade, was unveiled in October as a series of fiberglass "Rocky" statues designed by local artists. The statues are now at their permanent homes around town, in front of the businesses and organizations that sponsored a "Rocky." Nearly $10,000 was raised as part of the project for student scholarships in the WIU art department.
"The project was meant to create interest within the community and to bolster the relationship between the University and the community," Oursler said.
Illinois Stories is broadcast on the regional PBS stations, including WMEC, WQEC and WSEC. The WIU-related show will air Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan 22 at 6:30 p.m.
