CBT Chairs/Directors

MACOMB, IL – Three new department chairs/directors have been named within the Western Illinois University College of Business and Technology (CBT).

Marketing Professor Craig Conrad has been named permanent chair of the management and marketing department; Interim Director of the School of Computer Science Dennis DeVolder has been named permanent director; and Andy Baker, a professor in the School of Agriculture, has been named the interim director of the school. William Bailey, who has served as chair/director of agriculture since 2005, will join the school's faculty full-time.

Conrad has served as interim chair since July 2012. He joined the WIU marketing faculty in January 2001 as an assistant professor. Prior to teaching at WIU, Conrad worked at the University of Tennessee-Martin and at Wingate University. Conrad received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Western in 1989 and his MBA from Western in 1991.

DeVolder has served as interim director since July 2011. He joined the WIU computer science faculty in 1996 as an assistant professor. He received his bachelor's degree in health sciences in 1983 from WIU, followed by his master's degree in computer science in 1989 from Western and his doctorate degree from Florida State University.

Baker joined Western's faculty in August 1999 as an assistant professor. Prior to teaching at Western, he was an assistant professor at Murray State University and an adjunct assistant professor at University of Missouri-Columbia. Baker received his bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

"Craig, Dennis and Andy have many years of experience in their respective fields. Their background and knowledge will allow them to continue, and further enhance, the outstanding reputation of their department and schools," said College of Business and Technology Dean Tom Erekson.
