May 16, 2013
MACOMB, IL – Jennifer McNabb, associate director of Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors College, has received a 2013 Adviser Professional Development Grant from the International Golden Key Honorary Society.
McNabb is the adviser for the society's WIU chapter, which was transferred to the WIU Honors College over the past year.
"Through the outstanding leadership of Jennifer McNabb, WIU's chapter of Golden Key has grown dramatically and become one of the most improved chapters in the international Society," said interim Honors College Director Richard Hardy. "This award is evidence of her hard work and dedication to promoting our best students here at Western."
The award is accompanied by a $1,000 scholarship, which McNabb will use to conduct research toward being promoted to a full professor in Western's Department of History.
"I am honored to be selected as a winner of the Advisor Professional Development Grant, as well as deeply appreciative of the Golden Key's commitment to supporting the continued professional growth of its advisers," McNabb said. "I am delighted to have this opportunity to devote time and resources for this summer research trip."
McNabb will use the scholarship for her three-week research study at the University of Colorado's Center for British and Irish Studies, housed in the Norlin Library.
McNabb received her bachelor's degree from Adrian College, in Adrian, MI; her master's degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and her doctorate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
She was named adviser to the Golden Key Honorary Society in August 2012 and worked to organize a membership drive that more than tripled the WIU chapter's membership.
