Ross Awarded Centennial Honors Scholarship

December 12, 2012

MACOMB, IL – Cedar Falls (IA) High School senior Jillian Ross has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

At WIU, Ross said she is currently undecided on her major, but she is considering art, theatre and recreation, park and tourism administration.

"I selected Western because of the great opportunities offered to me through the Honors College," she said. "Meeting with Dr. (Richard) Hardy about the Honors College made me very excited about the honors dorms, the leadership conferences and opportunities for the Rhodes Scholar program and undergraduate think tank. The locked in tuition and room and board rate guarantee also makes Western a great choice."

In high school, Ross was involved in cross country, large group and individual speech teams, leadership programs, a youth acting troupe and programming at her church. She was also active in the Big House band and served as a volunteer at the Waterloo Community Playhouse/Black Hawk Children's Theatre.
