Donnelly awarded Centennial Honors Scholarship to WIU

November 26, 2012

MACOMB, IL – Spoon River Valley High School senior Sarah Donnelly, of London Mills, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University’s Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

At WIU, Donnelly plans to major in forensic chemistry and would like to continue with her involvement in the theater.

Donnelly said she chose Western because it was the only school in Illinois to offer a forensic chemistry major.

“It is also a very good school, and it is close enough to home to allow me to see my family as often as possible,” Donnelly said. “Western also has many options, both curricular and extracurricular, to make college as enjoyable as possible.”

In high school, Donnelly was involved in the National Honor Society, SWAT, theater, speech, track and field, the art club and the student council.

After graduation from WIU, Donnelly would like to work in a local crime lab, possibly in Peoria.
