MOLINE, IL — The first "Rocky on Parade" statue was unveiled at Western Illinois University-Quad Cities last week. Presented through the College of Fine Arts and Communication, Rocky on Parade is a public art project that celebrates the University's traditions, strengthens the unity of campus and community and supports student scholarships.

The Rocky on Parade project features life-size (and bigger than life-size) fiberglass bulldogs decorated by area artists and put on display at various locations throughout the WIU-Macomb campus and in the City of Macomb.

Now, thanks to a generous donation from WIU Board of Trustees Chair Roger Clawson, WIU-QC has its own Rocky on permanent display,

"With more than 9,000 Western Illinois University alumni living in the Quad Cities area, our mascot, Rocky, represents the inner strength and steadfast loyalty reflected in our graduates and current students," Clawson said. "Join the many who have stopped by for a picture with Rocky, and see, firsthand, the beautiful WIU-QC campus."

You can find Rocky along the path that connects Riverfront Hall to the QC-Complex on the Western Illinois University-Quad Cities campus.

"Rocky on Parade" is a three-year project and was first unveiled in 2013. A second round of Rocky statues were painted and put on permanent display in 2015.

The next—and final—round of Rocky statues will be unveiled in later 2017. Applications for statue sponsorship opportunities will open January 1, 2017.
