MACOMB, IL – Shelby Eck, an office support specialist in the Western Illinois University Development Office, has been named the Civil Service Employee of the Month for July.

Eck, who was hired in January, received the honor for her research and consistency in working with the WIU Foundation and the alumni database.

"Despite countless hours engaged in redundant and complicated research, she always has a positive attitude and takes on new endeavors with ease," said Eck's nominator. "In addition, she is always thinking of ways to conduct her research and finding ways to enhance data accuracy further. She is not afraid to delve into a task and go above and beyond normal researching procedures to find reliable data. "

Eck's nominator also said her work has been "pivotal to recent Foundation endeavors related to system data enhancement."

"Her positive attitude and willingness to help make it easy for other individuals to come to her with questions," the nominator added. "Her attention to detail ensures that everyone is presented with accurate data. She helps create a positive alumni/Foundation relation."

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) Public Relations Representative Wendi Mattson at WK-Mattson@wiu.edu.
