MACOMB, IL -- Kathleen Clauson, a library operations associate in the Western Illinois University Physical Sciences Library, has been named the WIU March Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to her nominators, "Kathleen demonstrates the values, assertiveness and dedication to be the Employee of the Month."

"She took the initiative to organize, plan and implement the 2010 Physical Sciences Library CSI Contest and Speaker Series. With Kathleen's encouragement, all three speakers traveled to WIU on their own time and expense to speak to our students on their area of expertise," her nominators added. "The events were well-organized, the speakers interesting and the sessions engaged the students who were in attendance. Ms. Clauson put forth a great deal of effort to ensure the success of these events."

Clauson was hired in May 1999 as a clerk III in University Housing and Dining Services, and in September 1999, was promoted to library technical assistant I. Two years later, she was reclassified to a library technical assistant II and to a library technical assistant III in March 2004. In October 2005 her title was changed to senior library specialist, and in July 2007, Clauson was reclassified to her current position.

"We are pleased to recognize Kathleen for her initiative and for her commitment to her job and to the University," said Wendi Mattson, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) public relations representative. "Her hard work and dedication are to be commended."

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should contact Wendi Mattson at WK-Mattson@wiu.edu.
