MACOMB, IL -- Brenda Fauls, a Western Illinois University assistant professor of music, was killed in a single vehicle rollover accident early Monday morning (July 27) in Decatur County, GA.

Fauls, an assistant professor of choral music education and director of The Concert Choir and Vocal Jazz Ensemble, joined the School of Music faculty in Fall 2008. She received her Ph.D. in Music Education from The Florida State University, and received her Master of Music and her Bachelor of Music degrees from James Madison University.

Prior to joining Western, Fauls taught both high school and middle school in which her choirs received superior ratings. During this time, Fauls served as the North Carolina Music Educators Convention Eastern Division Solo and Small Ensemble Chair and later on the Repertoire Selection Committee. In Florida, she served at the American Choral Directors Association President of The Florida State University College of Music Student Chapter.

"The Western Illinois University community mourns Brenda's tragic death," said President Al Goldfarb. "We send our condolences and thoughts to Dr. Fauls' family and friends."

Arrangements for Fauls are pending.
