MACOMB, IL -- Becky Ebey, office manager for Human Resources, has been named the Western Illinois University November Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to Ebey's nominator, she is "the one who makes it so all 18 HR employees can function fully. Becky motivates the rest of us each day by serving as a positive example of how to solve conflict, serve our customers and jump in to help anyone with any task at a moment's notice."

"Becky has a wonderful work ethic, a helpful and pleasant attitude and she keeps us joined together," her nominator added.

Ebey began working at Western in September 1994 as an extra-help office support assistant for the Office of Financial Aid. She was hired to the position full time in July 1996, and in April 2000 transferred to the psychology department. Later that year, Ebey was promoted to office support specialist for Study Abroad, and in 2005 she was promoted to office manager of Casa Latina. She transferred to her current position in Human Resources in November 2006.

"Becky is a wonderful example of an employee who represents Western in such a positive way," said Laura Caldwell, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) public relations representative. "Her commitment to her job, her co-workers and the University is to be commended."

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should contact Caldwell at (309) 298-1000 or e-mail LM-Caldwell@wiu.edu.
