WIU School of AFED to Host Analytics is Everywhere 2022 Nov. 2

MOLINE, IL - - The Western Illinois School of Accounting, Finance, Economics and Decision Sciences will host Analytics is Everywhere 2022 from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 in Riverfront Hall on the WIU-QC campus.

This event is open to any WIU students or prospective students interested in learning more about the analytics programs at WIU, including the STEM-recognized and AACSB-accredited Bachelor of Business in Business Analytics degree. Students who attend will learn more about the broader discipline and the excellent career and internship opportunities. Additionally, students can learn about all of the programs offered, student groups and scholarship opportunities within the School of Accounting, Finance, Economics and Decision Sciences.

The Analytics is Everywhere 2022 schedule includes:

11-11:50 a.m.: Lunch Presentation: Intro to ‘What is Data Analytics?'- During this session, WIU faculty will provide an introduction to data analytics and highlight its role in our everyday lives. Lunch will be provided for registered high-school students and community college guests.

Noon-12:50 p.m.: Business Analytics in Practice- Speakers from a regional partner, John Deere Co., will introduce students to the role analytics play throughout their company. This session will be offered both in-person on the Quad Cities campus and via Zoom. Virtual attendees should contact the School of AFED at afed@wiu.edu for the Zoom link before the event.

1-2:50 p.m.: Getting Started in Data Visualization - Professor Haritma Chauhan will walk high-school and community college students through the basics of data visualization and guide them through creating their first visuals using Tableau.

3-6 p.m.: AFED Open House- Students will have the opportunity to learn more about the programs offered at WIU and the different opportunities with the department at an interactive table fair. This fair will provide students with free food, games and prizes.

Additionally, regional educators should contact the School of AFED with any questions about obtaining CPE credit, or assistance with transportation or parking.
