Leatherneck Loyalty League Established

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Western Illinois University alumni and friends consistently support WIU, and its many causes, programs, students, events and more … and more than 1,600 have been consistent donors to WIU for more than five years. To recognize the consistency of WIU donors, the Division of Advancement and Alumni Relations has established the new Leatherneck Loyalty League.

Nearly 340 individuals have more than 20 years of consecutive giving, and with 32 people and/or couples clocking in with 40-plus years of consecutive giving to Western. The inaugural group will receive a certificate, a letter from President Guiyou Huang and a small token of appreciation in the coming weeks.

Membership into the Leatherneck Loyalty League Membership will be granted annually when the minimum years of giving (five) is reached.

The donors with the greatest amount of consecutive giving are Dick and Peggy Foster; Bill and Sondra Epperly and Rosemary Aten, each with 46 years.

"Members of the Leatherneck Loyalty League have displayed extraordinary support towards Western Illinois University. These amazing people believe in the values of this magnificent University," Interim Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Relations Mike Murtagh. "To League members, the WIU experience has added value to their lives and their support demonstrates their commitment to ensure that future generations of WIU students will continue to benefit from Western's unique educational experience."
