CRSSA (Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act) Applications Available for WIU Students

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL -- CRSSA (Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act) emergency grant applications are now available for Western Illinois University students who meet eligibility requirements.

To apply for CRSSA funds, students must be:

• a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen,
• actively enrolled during the Spring 2021 semester and
• a degree-seeking student (bachelor's, master's, specialist, doctorate, post-bacc certificate);
• and have met, or successfully appealed, Satisfactory Academic Progress by the end of Spring 2021.

According to Bobbi Smith, director of the Office of Financial Aid, her office has distributed funds to students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) between $0-5,711. Those students who did not receive an automatic grant must apply at bit.ly/WIUCRSSASpring21. Applications will be accepted until funds are depleted.

WIU received approximately $3.998.5 million through CRSSA to provide directly to students in need. The emergency fund grants do not have to be repaid. In addition to emergency funding, current and incoming students and/or their families who have experienced a change in financial circumstances as a result of the pandemic, Financial Aid has additional resources in place, including the Special Circumstances Appeal at bit.ly/WIUFinAidSpecialCircumstances.
