Harold B. Hart Obituary

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Physics Chair Emeritus Harold Bird Hart, of Gilbert, AZ, passed away Sept. 29 in Arizona.

Private family services were held Saturday, Oct. 3 in Arizona.

Hart began working at WIU in 1969, teaching physics and chairing the department until his retirement in 2004. He received WIU's Outstanding Faculty Award for Teaching in 2004, served 20 years as department chair and brought in more than $500,000 in grant funding to create the University's Secondary Physics Instrumentation Laboratory.

Hart is survived by his wife, Corey; his children, Chris, Debbie, Bob, Missy, Mike and Jeff; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
