WIU Opera Workshop Program to Present Fall Showcase and Spring Preview

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University's Opera Workshop program will present its Fall Showcase and Spring Preview from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 in Browne Hall, room 130.

The workshop is directed by WIU Assistant Professor of Music Ricardo Sepulveda, with guest director Rachel Mason, a music graduate student from Indianapolis, IN, and pianist Jacob Metzler, a music graduate student from Swisher, IA.

The showcase features students in the Opera Workshop class, MUSIC 109, and will present numerous songs, arias and scenes from the lyric theatre canon. The event is open free to the public.

Other performers/class members include DeOnte Bolden, a junior music therapy major from Joliet, IL; Parker Carls, a senior vocal performance major from Beardstown, IL; Brianna Hedden, a freshman music education major from Canton, IL; Rebecca Helmeid, a senior music therapy major from Malta, IL; Rachel Mason, a graduate student in vocal performance from Indianapolis, IN; David Mathes, a freshman vocal performance major from Pratt, KS; Mark Mixon, a senior music education major from Chicago; Joshua Pitt, a sophomore vocal performance major from Racine, WI; Spensor Randolph, a senior vocal performance major from Metamora, IL; Emily Richardson, a freshman mathematics major, music minor from Osceola, MO; Lillian Schierbrock, a junior music therapy major from West Point, IA; Mariah Walker, a junior music therapy major from St. Louis, MO; Kaiyan Wang, a graduate student in vocal performance from Beijing, China and Landon Wink, a junior music education major from Beardstown, IL.
