Phi Beta Delta Hosts Induction Ceremony

MACOMB, IL -- The Eta Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Delta at Western Illinois University inducted seven new members during a ceremony Monday, Nov. 11.

Phi Beta Delta, founded at California State University, Long Beach in 1986, was established as an organization in 1987, with 38 chartered chapters, many of which had existed for a considerable time previously at the local level.  It is the first honor society dedicated to recognizing scholarly achievement in international education. 

The Eta Epsilon Chapter was established at WIU in 2009. The purpose of the Eta Epsilon chapter is to recognize and encourage high professional, intellectual, academic and personal achievements in the field of international education. Applications are accepted year round and an induction ceremony is held in the spring.  

This year's inductees include:

• Saikiran Annedla, a computer science graduate student from India 

• Paw Htoo, a senior human resource management major from Myanmar

• An Ngyuen Le, a psychology graduate student from Vietnam

• Penny Monroe, a community member from Tennessee, IL

• Yin Thi-Thi Oo, a junior nursing major from Myanmar

• Praveen Kumar Thipparam, a computer science graduate student from India

• Taylor Wey, a college student personnel graduate student from Longboat Key, FL
