From the City of Macomb:

MACOMB, IL -- The City of Macomb, working with Amtrak, has developed a train status webpage for Macomb's Amtrak passenger trains. The city and Amtrak have partnered in a pilot project to develop the site to better inform travelers of Macomb-bound train statuses.

According to City of Macomb City Administrator Scott Coker, the new site shows the trains that go through Macomb similar to the status monitors at Chicago's Union Station.

"Amtrak was good to work with on this project and we are glad we could be the first community served by Amtrak to introduce this," he added.

Two years ago, the city and Amtrak partnered on a pilot project to make ADA improvements at the Macomb Depot. Historically, Amtrak has used national contractors for construction projects and the Macomb Depot project used local contractors to not only save money, but to expedite the project.

"We are proud to be an Amtrak community and gladly continue to work with Amtrak on these initiatives to improve the service to Amtrak customers," Mayor Mike Inman added.

A link to the train status is available bit.ly/amtrakmac and at cityofmacomb.com.
