Dance Marathon Color Run/Walk Sept. 28

MACOMB, IL – Color (run) for the kids!

The Western Illinois University Dance Marathon will hold its second annual Color Run for the Kids Saturday, Sept. 28. The event is part of the student organization's year-round effort to raise money for Children's Miracle Network hospitals, St. Louis Children's Hospital and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon. The year-long event culminates March 30, 2020, with the 12-hour Dance Marathon, which honors the 12-hour shifts of doctors and nurses, as well as children who are unable to stand.

The event, which starts at 4 P.m. Sept. 28 (registration begins at 3 P.m.), is a two-mile color run in Macomb's Veterans Park on University Drive. The $30 registration is due by Sept. 16 to guarantee a Color Run t-shirt. Online registration is available at tinyurl.com/DMColor2019. On-site registration will be available the day of the race.

Western's Dance Marathon is entering its seventh year on the WIU campus, with this year's goal set at $175,000. Donations are welcome, and may be made by visiting tinyurl.com/WIUDM20 or emailing dancemarathon@wiu.edu. Last year's event raised more than $160,000.

The $160,000 raised during the 2018-2019 Dance Marathon pushed Western's six-year total to close to $600,000. The 2018 event raised $135,000; the 2017 event raised $123,000; the 2016 event raised $70,800; the 2015 event raised $53,000; and the inaugural event in 2014 raised $22,000.
