MACOMB, IL – Michigan artist Teresa Dunn will have her exhibition, "A Woman, An Island, The Moon" on display through Friday, Sept. 13 at the Western Illinois University Art Gallery.

A reception for the artist will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 4:30-6 p.m.

The exhibition is made up of circular paintings described to be "like miniature islands that encompass the life of my invented female protagonist and her small world."

"The circle, saturated color and pattern allow me to explore metaphors for isolation and belonging, boundaries and openness, hope and hopelessness, home and homeland," Dunn said about her exhibit. "This alternative constructed reality is observed from numerous points of reference including the protagonist, her cohabitants, an omniscient voyeur and the viewer."

Dunn teaches at Michigan State University.

The exhibit is open free to the public. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-noon; 1-4 p.m. and Saturday 1-4 p.m. The gallery is closed on University holidays.
