MACOMB, IL - - Students who are attending Midstate College, which announced July 23 that the school will close Aug. 14, are invited to apply at no cost to Western Illinois University.

"Following Midstate's announcement, we began to receive calls from students who will be displaced. We are inviting students who are affected by the impending closure to apply to Western and we will waive the application fee," noted Doug Freed, director of WIU Undergraduate Admissions and Enrollment Services. "We will assist these students in any way possible so they can continue their college education."

In addition to the application fee waiver, WIU Undergraduate Admissions staff are happy to conduct a transcript evaluation for Midstate College students considering transferring to WIU. Interested students can submit an unofficial transcript to admissions@wiu.edu and can expect a quick response.

"Western offers several academic programs that may be of interest to Midstate College students. Particularly, several of our programs, including our Master of Business Administration degree, can be fully completed online," Freed said. "There are numerous major options available at our Macomb and Quad Cities campuses. We are confident Midstate students can find a great new home at WIU."

Midstate students who transfer to WIU are eligible for Western's Cost Guarantee program, which freezes tuition, fees, room and meal plan for students who remain continuously enrolled at the University. In addition, qualified transfer students may be eligible for Western's automatic Transfer Commitment Scholarship.

Students can apply at wiu.edu/apply and select the fee waiver option, or they can contact Undergraduate Admissions at (309) 298-3157 or admissions@wiu.edu. While classes begin at Western Aug. 19, the University continues to accept applications for Fall 2019.
