Knapp Retirement Reception Set June 28

MACOMB, IL -- A retirement reception for Western Illinois University Visual Production Center (VPC) Administrative Assistant Alice Knapp will be held from 1-4 p.m. Friday, June 28 in Tillman 207. Knapp will retire June 28 after 33 years of service.

Knapp began her career at WIU in 1986 as a secretary III in physical education, working in that department until 1989. In 1990, she worked as a secretary III in Campus Recreation and the College of Health, Physical Education and Recreation Dean's Office until she transferred to VPC in 1994. She was audited to chief clerk three years later, to staff clerk in 2004 and to administrative clerk in 2007. Knapp has served as an administrative assistant since 2012.

"Alice is my right-hand woman at VPC, and she will be greatly missed," said Darcie Shinberger, executive director of University Communications. "Throughout the years, she has provided outstanding customer service at VPC and she has been the glue that holds our office together. When situations arise, our first question is 'What would Alice do?' We wish Alice the very best as she embarks on a new adventure, spending time with her family and with her favorite hobby - boating and fishing on the Mississippi River."
