MACOMB, IL -- The Council of Academic Advisors Awards and Recognition Committee at Western Illinois University announced recently that Beth Lane, of the WIU Department of Biology, has been named the April 2019 Advisor of the Month.

Lane was nominated by Biology Instructor Tom Vogel and Biology Department Chair Ranessa Cooper, who praised her "exemplary work with students."

"The respect she has for my students shows in their attitudes in my classrooms," said Vogel.

"One of the reasons our biology majors have great respect for Beth is due to the empathy and compassion she shows for them consistently," said Cooper.

Each month, a WIU advisor is honored with a certificate and trophy. Award winners are decided by a committee that considers each of the applications for the month.
