MACOMB, IL – A 50-mile run to honor more than 550 of Illinois' fallen military personnel and civilian first responders will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, April 13 in Macomb and end in Warsaw, IL.

Among those fallen military personnel being honored is Western Illinois University 2018 alumnus Tyler Smith, who was stationed in California at the time of his death in September 2018.

The fundraising event is organized by Gold Star families and supporters and begins on the WIU campus. During each mile of the event, runners will stop for a brief ceremony where the names of the fallen will be read.

Family members of the fallen are invited to stand at their hero's marker for the roadside ceremony. The run will end at 5 p.m. at the Veteran's Memorial in Warsaw and will be followed by a dinner at the Bott Community Center in Warsaw.
