Winners of WIU Art Gallery's Annual Juried Student Exhibition Announced

MACOMB, IL – The winners of the 2018 Annual Juried Student Exhibition at the Western Illinois University Art Gallery were announced this week.

WIU students, of various majors, submitted original work in a variety of mediums to be considered for the exhibit. This show is to promote and celebrate the artistic abilities of students of any major.

This year's exhibit was judged by Jennifer Teter, executive director and curator of the Quincy Art Center.

This year's winners include:

Best of Show: "Abandoned Toy" by Brittany Howe, a senior art major from Warsaw, IL - watercolor

Second place: "Teeth and Eyelashes" by Keosha Westphal, a senior art major from Muscatine, IA - stoneware

Third place: "Flooding" by Kelly Brown, a senior art major from Maquon, IL - silkscreen and watercolor

Sanders Purchase Award: "Duo" by Abbigale Matlick, a senior art major from East Moline, IL - ceramic

Mixed Media Award: "The Magic Paintbrush" by Andie Majdic, a junior art major from Dunlap, IL - graphite, watercolor, ink

Other students accepted into this year's show include Andrea Kliffmiller, a senior art major from Rushville, IL; Jimena Espinoza, a sophomore art major from Streamwood, IL; Rebecca Maccanelli, a senior social work major from Farmington, IL; Ashley Derry, a senior art major from Macomb; Silas Coggeshall, a senior art major from Macomb; Andrea Gordon, a senior art major from Flanagan, IL; Kelsey Ballard, a senior art major from Medinah, IL; Marshal Schweitzer, a senior art major from Macomb; Janay Cosey, a senior art major from Chicago; Austin Kirchner, a senior art major from Montrose, IA; Deja Wriddley, a junior art major from Chicago; Alyssa Sutheard, a freshman art major from South Jacksonville, IL; Jade Hall, a junior art major from Versailles, IL; Ashante Byrd, a junior art major from Chicago; Sara D. Simonson, a graduate student from Macomb; China Alicia Marie Ufkes, a senior art major from Macomb; Gracie Boehl, a senior art major from Bolingbrook, IL; Victoria Harmon, a senior art major from Wyoming, IL and Megan Riley, a sophomore art major of Macomb.
