Jo Ann Sanders Obituary

MACOMB, IL – A memorial service for Western Illinois University Professor Emeritus Jo Ann Sanders, of Macomb, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9 at the First Baptist Church in Macomb. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Sanders passed away Sunday, March 3 in Macomb.
Sanders taught textile arts at WIU for 35 years, retiring in 1992, and was considered a master weaver.
She and her late husband, Bill, were active supporters of the arts at Western and established the Jo and Bill Sanders Scholarship, as well as a student art purchase fund. The endowed fund allows the University Art Gallery to buy outstanding student artwork for its permanent collection. The couple also donated numerous art pieces to the University, including a weaving loom to University Libraries.
Sanders is survived by one daughter, Rachel, and one grandson, Daniel.
