Retirement Celebration for MacDonell Dec. 14

MACOMB, IL – A retirement celebration for Western Illinois University Director of Campus Recreation Milly MacDonell will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at the Chown Golf Learning Center at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course. There will be a brief program at 4:30 p.m.

MacDonell began her WIU career as a graduate assistant for Campus Recreation in 1998. She became assistant director of fitness services from 1999-2000. After working at Sweet Briar College in Virginia and at Mississippi University, MacDonell returned to WIU in 2005 to become director of Campus Recreation.

She currently oversees the Donald S. Spencer Student Recreation Center, the Harry Mussatto Golf Course and various outdoor campus facilities. She was also instrumental in the design and construction of the Student Recreation Center expansion in 2009 and the Chown Golf Learning Center, which opened in July.

MacDonell will retire Dec. 31, after working at WIU for more than 15 years.
