Bricks Still Available for WIU Alumni Plaza: The Perfect Holiday Gift

MACOMB, IL – Are you struggling to find the perfect gift for the Leatherneck alumni on your holiday shopping list? This year you can give the gift of a legacy: a permanent brick in the Western Illinois University Alumni Plaza.

More than 550 donors have already committed to becoming a part of the plaza and fundraising will continue through May 2019. The first set 500 bricks were unveiled in the plaza during Homecoming 2018 and the engraved pavers purchased during phase two will be in Summer 2019.

The plaza is a brick patio, placed outside the north entry of the University Union. Adjoining the plaza will be a Mascot Memorial Plaza, which pays tribute to WIU's live mascot, Colonel Rock.

Both projects were part of the celebration of the University Union's 50th anniversary.

Ideas for bricks include commemorating a Fall 2018 (or past) graduate, memorializing an individual, campus organization or a fraternity or sorority, pledge devotion to a Leatherneck Athletics team or display your business name.

Bricks available include:

• Large bricks are 7 inches by 14 inches and can include four lines of text, up to 25 characters per line for $225

• Small bricks are 4 inches by 8 inches and can include three lines of text, up to 16 characters per line for $100
