MACOMB, IL – High school senior Madalyn Pridemore, of Macomb, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher (or SAT equivalent of 1360), and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, are eligible for the scholarship.

Pridemore plans to major in applied music – violin performance. She chose WIU because she has worked with several WIU music instructors since she was 8 years old.
"Now, at nearly 18, I have had the privilege to work with several of the professors through WIU Summer Music Camps, orchestras and other activities they directed in the community. I feel I have so much more to learn from the instructors and I have a great respect for each of them."
Pridemore's career goals include earning a doctoral degree in violin performance, to continue to play in musical ensembles and to earn a spot in a major opera orchestra.
