Masterworks Concert Saturday at Western

MACOMB, IL -- The Western Illinois University Symphony Orchestra, University Singers and Concert Choir will present the annual Masterworks Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

The Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Associate Professor Richard Hughey, will perform Franz Berwald's "Symphony No. 3 in C Major Sinfonie singuliére." The orchestra will be joined by the University Singers for the world premiere performance of WIU Professor of Theory and Composition Paul Paccione's "Sea and Sky for Chorus and Orchestra," conducted by Hughey.

The combined Orchestra, University Singers and Concert Choir, under the direction of Professor James Stegall and Instructor Jason Hawkins, respectively, will perform selections from Leonard Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms," featuring student soloists Amanda Ensign (boy soloist), Claire Ryterski (soprano), Parker Carls (alto), Leonel Villarreal (tenor) and Benjamin Rogers (bass), conducted by Stegall.

This performance is open free to the public.
