WIU Alumna to Lecture on Campus April 10

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University alumna Professor Moniza Waheed will deliver the lecture, "Bridging Cultural Gaps in Interpersonal Workplace Relationships" at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 in Horrabin Hall 1. The lecture will also be video conferenced rooms 103-104 of Riverfront Hall on the WIU Quad Cities campus.

After receiving her master's degree in communication from WIU in 2008, Waheed received her doctoral degree from the University of Amsterdam in 2013. She is currently a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Valenti School of Communication at the University of Houston, Texas, where she works with Assistant Professor Lea Hellmueller on the project titled "Role Conceptions and Professional Practices of Journalists from Malaysia and Those from Other Countries Around the Globe."

In her home country of Malaysia, Waheed serves as a senior lecturer at the Department of Communication, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). At UPM, Moniza teaches courses under the human communication specialization, such as political communication, persuasive campaigns and intercultural communication.
