MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University Department of Distance Education Support Chief Clerk Renea Creasy has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for January.

Creasy began working at WIU in Purchasing in Summer 2012. She was named chief clerk in the University Union Bookstore in October 2013, and transferred to her current position in July 2016.

According to Creasy's nominator, she is consistently friendly, kind and caring.

"She tackles each day with energy and enthusiasm," her nominator said. "She asks for more responsibility and exudes pride and excitement with her accomplishments that will benefit the University's degree programs – BGS and ISP. She is always looking for more to do in her position and when the new director wanted to update the department's website she eagerly took on the task."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Christine Staley at CD-Staley@wiu.edu.
