MOLINE, IL - The National Association of Branch Campus Administrators (NABCA), for which Joseph Rives serves as president, will offer a Branch Campus Leadership Institute. The institute serves as a professional development and leadership opportunity for administrators. Rives is Western Illinois University's Vice President for Quad Cities and Planning.

Rives noted that the Branch Campus Leadership Institute is designed to bring the expertise of national administrators in off-campus locations to those wanting to enter, serve, and advance in the profession. NABCA is a professional organization committed to supporting the mission and goals of higher education professionals who work at a location that is separate from the parent campus.

"Today, there is no specialization in leadership that currently exists for the remote campus administrator," Rives said. "NABCA designed this institute to help fill that gap. I am excited to see this program launched. It is an example of how NABCA gives back to the profession and the membership. Plus, the ultimate benefactor of this program, is the students and institutions that we all serve."

The year-long institute, which will allow a maximum of 15 participants, includes an in-person orientation followed by monthly videoconference sessions with national expert speakers. Each participant will identify a situational challenge to develop into a case study implementation strategy at their institution. Participants will also be partnered with a remote-campus higher education senior administrator as a mentor to receive regular feedback and executive coaching. A class forum will be available online for assignments, articles, discussion, evaluations, and speaker biographies.

Upon successful completion of the Branch Campus Leadership Institute, students will receive a certificate from Rives during a ceremony at the NABCA annual conference. Participant case studies will be presented during a general conference session as well as in a poster session.

To apply for the Branch Campus Leadership Institute, visit www.NABCA.net/ProgramOverview.html and submit a completed application by Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018.

Applications will be reviewed and participants announced by mid-February 2018.

"As a college administrator working at a branch campus, navigating the territory can have a very steep learning curve," said Allison Fitzpatrick, NABCA past president and institute founder. "The NABCA Branch Campus Leadership Institute will give administrators the toolkit they need to be successful. Not only on the branch campus, but in the overall higher education setting."
