Nurse Tim to Lecture on WIU Campus

MACOMB, IL – Dr. Tim Bristol (Nurse Tim) will visit Western Illinois University Tuesday, Nov. 14 for a series of events, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Bristol coordinates service learning initiatives for academic institutions to provide learning opportunities for students.

Bristol's sessions on campus include:

• 8:30-10:30 a.m. – "Quality and Safety in Education: From America to Haiti and Back" - Sandburg Theatre. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The intended audience for this session is nursing, social work and health sciences majors. This session is sponsored by the WIU School of Nursing, the Chi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and the WIU Department of Health Sciences and Social Work.

• 11 a.m.-noon – "Interdisciplinary Response to International Emergencies," in the Sandburg Theatre. The event is open to the campus community and is sponsored by Communities as Agents of Change programming, the WIU Department of Health Sciences and Social Work and the WIU School of Nursing.

• Noon-1 p.m. – Brown bag lunch with Bristol, Stipes Hall 501. The event is open to WIU faculty and graduate students and is sponsored by the WIU Department of Health Sciences and Social Work. The lunch will provide the opportunity for faculty and graduate students to explore the strategies and alternatives to develop experiential projects for faculty and interested students.

Bristol has taught at all levels of nursing and is an expert in bringing the evidence-base of nursing, healthcare and education to students and faculty at all levels through consultations, writing and mentoring. He is a certified nurse educator and is a fellow in the Academy of Nursing Education.
