MOLINE, IL - - Kellie Larrabee, a former business executive who received her master's degree from
Western Illinois University-Quad Cities in July, has been named full-time graduate admissions counselor at WIU-QC.

In this new position, Larrabee will meet with local businesses and attend fairs and events to promote the graduate programs now available at the WIU-Quad Cities campus, which include doctoral, graduate and post-baccalaureate certificate programs, as well as the overall WIU School of Graduate Studies, which encompasses more than 40 programs.

While enrolled in Western's graduate program in college student personnel (CSP), Larrabee, a native of Prophetstown (IL), was employed as a part-time graduate assistant in Western's School of Graduate Studies.

Prior to returning to the Quad Cities area to pursue her master's degree at WIU-QC, Larrabee was a field representative for Herff Jones Graduate Services, Raleigh, NC; human resources manager at Cigna Insurance, Beverly Hills, CA.; human resources manager at St. John Lutheran Church, St. Louis, MO; and senior recruiter at Fidelity Investments in Boston, Mass. In addition to earning the master's degree in CSP with a focus on higher-education leadership (July 2017), Larrabee holds a bachelor's degree in social work and sociology from Wartburg College.

"As a recent master's graduate, I'm honored to represent the School of Graduate Studies," Larrabee said. "My experience at WIU has been nothing short of life-changing, and my relationships with faculty and administration have been exceptional. The flexibility of coursework delivery through the online, hybrid and in-classroom platforms has fostered a commitment to a learning environment I understand and am excited to share with prospective graduate students. My familiarity of faculty expectations, combined with learning outcomes, provide a common language to share with prospective graduate students. Learning to balance life's responsibilities with program expectations is a challenge that I personally understand and respect."
