Assistant Director of Financial Aid Interviews Scheduled

MACOMB, IL - - Two candidates have been selected to interview for the assistant director of financial aid at Western Illinois University Monday, July 10.

The candidates include Jeff Thurman, extra help as a WIU undergraduate admissions counselor, and Megan Bainter, WIU financial aid advisor manager.

An open session will be held for Thurman at 10:45 a.m. and for Bainter at 3:15 p.m., both July 10 in Sherman Hall 115.

Thurman has served as extra help as an undergraduate admissions counselor at WIU since August 2016 and as the video coordinator/manager for the WIU men's basketball program since June 2016. Previously, he has served as the TRIO student support services intern at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, IL; head women's basketball coach at Black Hawk College-East in Kewanee, IL; associate head men's basketball coach at Carl Sandburg College and community outreach worker at the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (Deerfield, IL).

Thurman earned a master's degree in sport management and Bachelor of General Studies degree from Western.

Bainter has served as the financial aid advisor manager in Western's financial aid office since October 2014. Previously, she has served as an administrative intern in the WIU College of Education and Human Services; collection specialist in Western's billing and receivables office; billing submitter for Optometric Billing Consultants and textbook/office supply sales associate at Chapman's Book and Office Supply, all in Macomb.

Bainter received her MBA and a bachelor's degree in fashion merchandising from Western.
