May 26, 2017
MOLINE, IL - The Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC)'s International Trade Center (ITC) at Western Illinois University-Quad Cities recently hosted a delegation of federal and regional business experts for a roundtable discussion of best practices.
Representatives from the Small Business Administration (SBA) and Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee (TPCC) from Washington, D.C.; the Illinois Office of Trade and Investment (OTI) (Chicago); Illinois Department of Commerce (Rockford); and a group of regional small-business exporters visited the SBDC ITC on the WIU- Quad Cities campus in Moline on May 24.
The event also included the presentation of a proclamation from Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner of May as World Trade Month, highlighting the OTI's mission of "helping expand the reach of small- and medium-sized businesses to expand their markets and their reach abroad."
"The ITC at Western was one of five centers chosen for such a visit," said Michelle Lewis, international trade specialist at the Illinois SBDC ITC. "It was an honor to have them here for a ‘listening tour,' and to discuss the opportunities for small- and medium-sized businesses to expand their global capacities."
