Dear University Community,

On Wednesday, June 14, members of the University community and area residents are invited to attend press events on the Macomb and Quad Cities campuses where I will present the President's Executive Institute and Strategic Plan Supplement initiatives and goals. I look forward to sharing our continued progress for the future as we move forward with these initiatives. More details about the June 14 events will be released following the June 9 Board of Trustees meeting.

As I continue to say, Western Illinois University has been here for 117 years, and we will be celebrating our 118th year this fall. The institute and plan initiatives serve as a framework as we continue our mission and tradition of educating students and serving our communities for another 118 years and beyond.

I have been to Springfield multiple times this spring, including as recent as yesterday (May 24), to meet with policy makers and legislative leaders to discuss funding for public higher education and Western Illinois University. We continue to actively advocate for our University.

We have been faced with unprecedented challenges, but challenges also present opportunities to prioritize and strengthen our University. Be assured that we have the wherewithal and the resolve to move this institution forward. Your steadfast loyalty and commitment to this University are greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Jack Thomas, Ph.D.
President
Western Illinois University
