MACOMB, IL – The Eta Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Delta at WIU has been named the 2017 Phi Beta Delta Eileen Evans Outstanding Chapter.

The award is given to a chapter which demonstrates outstanding chapter growth, development and activities, as well as expanding its outreach within and beyond the academic community.

The WIU chapter officers meet monthly and organize eight events each year, including speakers, collaborative events with other international organizations and fundraising.

This year, Eta Epsilon held a "Taste of India Scholarship Dinner" in November and participated in the International Bazaar in March at WIU. The scholarship dinner featured Indian cuisine prepared by Indian students and Phi Beta Delta members. The event raised more than $1,000, which supports an international student scholarship and a study abroad scholarship.

This year, the international student scholarship was awarded to senior biology major Catherine Andreadis, of the United Kingdom.

During the International Bazaar, Phi Beta Delta members made, and sold out of, Brazilian chocolate balls in addition to other authentic international items.
