MACOMB, IL – High school senior Alexander McEvoy, of Dunlap (IL), has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher, and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, are eligible for the scholarship.

McEvoy hopes to double major in agriculture business and mechanical engineering.

"Western is one of the only colleges left in the United States with such a big and accredited agriculture program," said McEvoy. "The alumni invest so much into the programs, and the former students put so much time and energy into helping the students. That shows me Western has a great community that extends well beyond the reaches of the classroom."

In high school, McEvoy participated in the varsity swim team.
