An American Opera Double Bill May 5-6

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University School of Music will present an American Opera-Double Bill at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, May 5-6 in Hainline Theatre.

There will be the two one-act operas, "The Old Maid and the Thief" and "The Devil and Daniel Webster.".

The operas are directed by Associate Professor of Music Lynn Thompson, and conducted by Associate Professor of Music Richard Hughey, with the University Orchestra in the pit.

The leading roles will be performed by School of Music students Claire Rytkerski, Amanda Ensign, Parker Carls, Benjamin Rogers, Zachary Palmer and Tyler Bryant, and Department of Theatre and Dance student Monica Tate. An ensemble of student singers rounds out the cast, which also includes Professor of Music Matt Bean.

Tickets are $15 for the public and $12 for youth, seniors, and WIU employees. WIU students are admitted free with a valid student ID.
