2017 Illinois Forage Expo

MACOMB, IL – The annual Illinois Forage Expo will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, at the Western Illinois University Livestock Center.

The Forage Expo is an educational and demonstration program relating to forage and livestock production. Demonstrations will include mowing, tedding, raking, baling and bale wrapping.

There will be a hay quality contest for producers to enter 2017 harvested bales and haylage. There will be four categories for hay that will be judged. Those categories are alfalfa hay, grass hay, alfalfa/grass mixed hay and other. One haylage class will be available for entry.

Contestants must deliver their hay or haylage between 8:30-10 a.m. to the event site. There is no entry fee and NIRS analysis will be provided free. Bales weighing over 100 pounds will need an official scale weight ticket. Class winners will receive a certificate.

This event is open free to the public.
