MACOMB, IL – The newsroom at Tri States Public Radio (TSPR) has been named the winner of two Regional Murrow Awards in the 2017 competition, held by the Radio and Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).

TSPR received the awards in the Feature Reporting category for "The Art of Touching Lives" (tspr.org/post/art-touching-lives) and in the Excellence in Sound category for "Chainsaw Artists Creating a Buzz" (http://tspr.org/post/chainsaw-artists-creating-buzz).

Murrow Awards are among the more prestigious given in the industry and TSPR competed against other small market stations in the four-state region, which is made up of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

"Murrow Awards are given to stations rather than individuals, and that's the way it should be," said TSPR News Director Rich Egger. "Our news department works together as a team to produce top-notch journalism. I'm fortunate to work with talented journalists such as Jason Parrott and Emily Boyer, and I think that talent comes through in the stories we produce."

The two stories will now be considered for National Murrow Awards, which will be announced in the coming months.
