MACOMB, IL -- Interview for the Western Illinois University Women's Center director position will be held Friday, April 28, Monday, May 1 and Monday, May 8.

Candidates include Stephanie Hovsepian, assistant director of WIU Student Judicial Programs (April 28); Amy Crosby, international student recruitment graduate assistant in the WIU Center for International Studies and Women's Center intern (May 1); and Shannon Schipper, director of the Women's Resource Center and acting interim director of Intercultural Student Success at University of the Pacific (May 8). An open session with campus and community members will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. April 28 (Hovsepian), May 1 (Crosby) and May 8 (Schipper) in the Multicultural Center activity room.

Hovsepian has served as assistant director of Student Judicial Programs since August 2015. Previously, she was assistant director of the Office of Residence Life at Onondaga Community College Housing Development Corp. (June 2013-June 2015). She has also served as a judicial counselor for the Office of Judicial Affairs at Syracuse University (September 2010-June 2013), as a residential life coordinator for University Housing Services at San Jose State University and as residence director for residence live at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (July 2004-May 2007).

Hovsepian received her master's degree in higher education administration from Syracuse and her bachelor's degree in speech communication-education from San Diego State University.

Crosby has served as an international student recruitment graduate assistant since January 2016 and as an intern in the Women's Center since August 2016. Previously, she was an intern in the WIU Advising and Academic Services Center (May-August 2016). She has also served as graduate assistant in Undergraduate Admissions (August 2015-May 2016) and as a program coordinator for McDonough County Teen Court (August 2013-December 2015). Crosby has served as an advocate for the McDonough County State's Attorney's Office from February 2009-December 2010 and as an advocate for the Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency Victim Services from July 2008-December 2010.

Crosby received her master's degree in sociology from WIU and her bachelor's degree in international studies (human rights) from the University of Iowa. She is scheduled to receive a master's degree in college student personnel from WIU in May 2017.

Schipper has served as director of the Women's Resource Center at University of the Pacific since July 2015, and as the acting interim director of Intercultural Student Success since January 2016. Previously, she was a graduate teaching associate (August 2013-December 2014) and a graduate assistant (August 2011-August 2013) at Arizona State University. Schipper has also served as an editorial assistant for Frontiers: A Journal of Women's Studies (September 2011-June 2012).

Schipper received her master's degree in gender studies from Arizona State University, a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies (concentration in women's studies) from University of Missouri, Columbia, and an associate degree from St. Charles (MO) Community College.

The director supervises all operations at Women's Center, including the administration and assessment of programming and services offered by the center. The director serves as the adviser to graduate assistants who oversee Campus Girl Scouts and the Feminist Action Alliance. The director must work collaboratively with the other offices in the Multicultural Center, the Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center and the Casa Latina Cultural Center, in addition to various internal and external constituencies, to meet the diversity and inclusion goals of Western.
