WIU Communication Students Inducted into Lambda Pi Eta

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL -- Seventeen students were inducted into Western Illinois University's chapter of Lambda Pi Eta (LPH), the National Communication Association's student honor society, in ceremonies held April 6 in Moline on the WIU-QC campus and April 20 in Memorial Hall on the WIU-Macomb campus.

The ceremonies, hosted by the WIU Department of Communication and the Pi Pi chapter of LPH, honored senior communication majors David Beebe, of Moline, IL; Tyla Bolton, of Davenport, IA; Terry Fillmer, of Sherrard, IL; Shawna Lange, of Davenport, IA; communication minor Erika Laugeson, of Moline, IL; Molly Osborn, of Milan, IL; communication minor Patricia Vandegejuchte, of Moline, IL, and Taylor Wilson, of Annawan, IL, for scholastic achievement in the April 6 program on the WIU-QC campus. Brittany Frame, of Quincy, IL; Victoria Hall, of Knoxville, IL; Kyndra Harris, of Gurnee, IL; Jason Kesseler, of Crystal Lake, IL; Jose Maldonado, of Macomb; Hannah Mull, of Bloomington, IL; Rebecca Probasco, of Oak Forest, IL; Brenna Smith, of Evergreen Park, IL, and Victoria Wehner, of Bolingbrook, IL, were honored in the April 20 program on the WIU-Macomb campus.

Communication majors and minors with at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA (grade point average), a 3.25 GPA in communication (with a minimum of 12 hours in communication) who have also accumulated at least 60 hours are eligible for membership in the organization.

LPH, founded in 1985, is the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association and an accredited member of the Associate of College Honor Societies. With more than 400 active chapters and more than 5,000 members nationwide, LPH recognizes, fosters and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement while promoting interest in the communication discipline.

Advisors for the Pi Pi chapter are Associate Professor Mary Hogg and Instructor Kevin Menken.
