"Given the funding threats on the state and national levels, it's great to have the membership support that allows us to produce quality journalism for the region," said Emily Boyer, TSPR Morning Edition host.

The AP awards given to TSPR include (links are provided with each story):

Best Use of Sound - First place Rich Egger, for "Chainsaw Artists Creating a Buzz" (bit.ly/2pX4Osd)

Public radio stations dominated the Local Radio Division, winning 16 of the 21 awards given.

In addition to the AP awards, TSPR reporter Breanna Descourouez was honored in the student competition held by the Illinois News Broadcasters Association (INBA). She received a second place award for Outstanding Radio Newscast.

All of the awards were announced during INBA's spring convention in Urbana.
