Dear University Community,

Due to the ongoing budget impasse at the state level, we have been forced to implement numerous cost-saving measures. The University must continue to restrict spending to immediate and essential operational needs only. P-Card usage will again be limited, and open positions at all levels are under review. The longer the state's fiscal crisis lasts without a fully-funded budget, difficult decisions will continue to be made.

Despite the challenges our University and other public higher education institutions have faced in the past few years, Western's tradition of providing a quality, affordable education is unwavering. Registration for both Summer and Fall 2017 is underway, and summer orientation sessions are scheduled. We are actively recruiting students, accepting applications, and planning ahead for future semesters.

The commitment of our University community is deeply appreciated during these challenging budgetary times. I will continue to provide updates as new information is made available.

Sincerely,

Jack Thomas
President
Western Illinois University
