Co-op Screening set for April 13 at WIU's Sandburg Theatre

MACOMB, IL – A screening of the documentary "In the Spirit of Cooperation" will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13 in the Sandburg Theatre of the Western Illinois University Union.

A discussion panel will follow the screening, which will include Chris Merrett, director of the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs, Sean Park, program manager of the ICDC, Jake Hamilton, Peace Corps Fellow and Crystal Kepple, general manager of the Macomb Food Co-op.

The film features four types of co-ops: agriculture, worker-owned, credit unions and consumer based, such as food co-ops. The documentary camera crew traveled more than 37,000 miles to shoot the film in six locations on three continents.

The screening is sponsored by the IIRA; Illinois Cooperative Development Center; Communities as Agents of Change; Gloria Delany-Barmann, Heather McIlvaine-Newsad and Pedro Bidegaray.
