MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) has named WIU Geology Professor Kyle Mayborn the associate dean for curriculum and student affairs. Mayborn has served as the CAS interim associate dean since July 2015.

"Kyle brings considerable experience to our staff, particularly given his comprehensive understanding of curriculum and the faculty governance system at Western," said CAS Dean Sue Martinelli-Fernandez. "He is a welcome addition to the dean's office, and we are very happy he will be a part of our team."

Mayborn came to Western in 2000 as an assistant professor of geology. While at WIU, he has served on the CAS Faculty Council, including two years as chair; the CAS Curriculum Committee, with one year in the chair position and on the CAS College Personnel Committee, including three years as chair.

Mayborn has been active in promoting undergraduate research, through membership on the CAS Undergraduate Research Committee, as well as through his own research mentorship of numerous undergraduate geology students. He also has several scholarly publications and presentations to his credit.
